Eating traps

Meal traps - 5 food products to be avoided...

Thanks to the environment and our own food decisions, we do try to pay attention to healthy nutrition by checking the composition of food products and we try to exclude some of them.

Thanks to the media, the large food manufacturers make efforts to adapt themselves to the demands of their buyers and they advertise their products as “healthy products” in the framework of these campaigns. Nevertheless, it is worthwhile to continue to check what the products contain in addition to the nutritive materials that are important to us.

5 significant misconceptions concerning healthy nutrition!!!

Today, a healthy lifestyle is already an important concept for all of us. We try to make our purchases consciously as we pay attention to, and study the labels of, the food products. Nevertheless, and unfortunately even with this way, we may put unhealthy food products into our shopping basket. Today, practically everybody is aware of the fact that with healthy nutrition we may control our weight, become more resistant to the diseases, feel better in ourselves and we may also look better.

Let us look at some of the food products which we believe to be healthy. It is to our advantage that we are careful with them, assuming we do not wish to increase our weight by some additional kilograms.

  1. Yoghurts, fruit yoghurts:

Yoghurts are excellent sources of calcium and vitamins; we do not question this. Unfortunately, the flavoured or fruit yoghurts have little to do with the products that contain real living flora. In most cases, these “fruit yoghurts” have never seen any healthy fruits, but companies utilise the candied pulp left over from the manufacture of other products.

  1. Fish sticks:

The basic idea is definitely not bad since, according to nutrition experts, we should consume fish at least once per week because fish meats contains lots of minerals, and naturally they contain omega-3 fatty acids and vital vitamins too. Unfortunately, eating fish sticks is not the best form of consuming fish. It is true that it is easier to prepare fish sticks, they are delicious, and even the choosiest of children eat them. However and unfortunately, fish sticks contain lots of artificial materials and, if we check the labels on the box, we will learn that they are not prepared from the fillet of fish steak, but from the various leftover scraps of fish.

  1. Fruit juices:

One glass of orange juice for breakfast is an excellent choice: it is rich in fibre, vitamins and energy, it assists us to start our day more energetically. However, if our daily fluid demand is met by “fruit juices” we can easily gain a couple of kilograms, since each glass of fruit juice we consume adds 100-150 calories. Therefore, the keyword here is also “in moderation”.

  1. Low-fat and sugar-free deserts:

On first hearing they sound good and honestly and we have to admit that their flavour is not bad either. How many calories do they contain? We do not check it and in-there is the trap. Unfortunately, they often counterbalance the fat with sugar and vice versa. It is worthwhile paying close attention when reading the exact composition of deserts of this kind!

  1. Breakfast Cereal:

It is true that most breakfast cereals are rich in fibres and vitamins, but the flavoured, chocolate, honey, etc. types contain lots of sugar – that means calories – and artificial ingredients.

Results can be very different individually. We cannot guarantee the above results for everybody, as results are dependent on eating habits, health condition, and fitness levels. Before you start exercising ask for your GP’s advice.
